Ray of Hope Women Group was officially registered on 26th July
2019 under Kenyan laws. Our organization was founded by courageous
international refugee women from South Sudan, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of
Congo who found themselves navigating life in Nairobi's Githurai informal settlements.
The organization is run and managed by skillful international refugee women with the
support of volunteers. We operate in the informal settlements of
Nairobi city and Ruiru town where international refugees have settled, aiming
to improve their living standards through community support.
These women, having experienced displacement, trauma, and uncertainty, came together with
a shared vision: to create a community where refugee women could find not just support,
but genuine empowerment. They understood firsthand the unique challenges faced by
refugee women – limited access to economic opportunities, vulnerability to violence,
social isolation, and the struggle to maintain dignity while rebuilding their lives.
From humble beginnings, Ray of Hope has grown into a beacon of solidarity and strength.
What started as informal gatherings for mutual support has evolved into a registered
organization. Today, we serve as a vital lifeline for
refugee families, providing a supportive
community that validates their experiences and champions their rights.
